December 15., szerda: Lk 7,19-23: Keresztelő Szent János követsége.

Keresztelő Szent János, az előfutár, egy távlatban szemléli az Úr Jézus két eljövetelét: a karácsonyit és a világ végén a végítéletkor. Ezért van zavarban a börtönben a hírek hallatára, hogy Jézus, akire ő a Jordán partján háromszor is rámutatott: „Íme az Isten Báránya, íme, aki elveszi a világ bűneit”, nem ítélkezik, hanem megbocsátást hirdet. Kérdésre, hogy ő-e a Messiás, az Úr Jézus a jövendölés beteljesedésére utal, amit Keresztelő Szent János követei láthattak jelenlétében: a csodás gyógyulások a Messiásról tesznek tanúságot. Amikor vágyaink nem teljesülnek, amikor úgy tűnik, hogy Isten nem hallgatja meg imáinkat, gondoljuk meg, hogy az Úr Jézus valóban a megjövendölt Messiás, aki megváltotta a világot és minden kérésünket teljesíti, amelyek lelkünk javára vannak, nem úgy, ahogy mi szeretnénk, hanem úgy, ahogy Ő azt javunkra jónak látja!

Dear brothers and sisters, the path before us is clear, though it is not easy. We are called to allow our hearts to be renewed, so that we might seek peace and care for creation. Scripture tells us to guard our hearts, for everything we do flows from them (cf. Prov 4:23).
