A XXII. Szegedi Nemzetközi Biblikus Konferencia pénteki ülésszakának zárásaként adták át az újonnan alapított díjat, amelyet a kortárs újszövetségkutatás egyik legnagyobb hatású tudósáról, Joachim Gnilkáról neveztek el.

A névadó maga adta át az elismerést Jakubinyi György gyulafehérvári érseknek, aki mint tudós, hosszú évek óta gazdagította a konferenciát előadásaival.

Bevezetőjében Benyik György professzor, a konferencia igazgatója bemutatta a díjat, Kozma Gábor, a Gál Ferenc Hittudományi Főiskola rektora pedig felolvasta Semjén Zsolt miniszterelnök-helyettes köszöntő levelét.

Gnilka professzort mint díszvendéget és a díjazottat méltatta Kiss-Rigó László megyéspüspök, Fabinyi Tamás evangélikus püspök, valamint Fodor György, a Pázmány Péter Katolikus Egyetem rektora.

Szintén az ünnepség keretén belül adták át a Konferencia Támogatói díjat Valentiny Géza pápai prelátusnak, valamint a Konferencia Barátja oklevelet Fabinyi Tamás evangélikus püspöknek és Bölcskey Gusztáv református püspöknek.
