Szent II. János Pál pápa 1980. október 8-án szentelte fel a Szent Péter-bazilika altemplomában található Magyarok Nagyasszonya kápolnát, amely annak a XI. századi zarándokháznak és az ahhoz tartozó kápolnának az örököse, amelyet Szent István király emelt az Örök Várost felkereső magyar zarándokok számára – mondotta szentbeszédében Erdő Péter bíboros, esztergom-budapesti érsek, aki a 35 évvel később, 2015. október 8-án, reggel 7.30-kor kezdődő ünnepi szentmise főcelebránsa és szónoka volt.

Az ünnepi búcsús szentmisén koncelebráltak Veres András szombathelyi püspök, a Magyar Katolikus Püspöki Kar elnöke, Német László nagybecskereki püspök és közel húsz pap, Kocsis Fülöp hajdúdorogi görög-katolikus érsek-metropolita részvételével. A szentmisén jelen voltak Magyarország szentszéki és olaszországi nagykövetei, a római magyar közösség tagjai és számos zarándok. A szentmisén a székely népviseletbe öltözött csíkszépvízi kórus énekelt. A gyulafehérvári főegyházmegyéből a kórust elkísérő csíkszépvízi plébános, Gábor Zoltán, és a Szentszéknél szolgálatot teljesítő Kovács Gergely atya koncelebráltak. Each year the World Day of Migrants and Refugees invites us to turn our attention to different aspects of the complex phenomenon of migration. For this 112th World Day, the theme, “Even just one of these children,” draws our attention to the minors directly involved in the experience of migration and flight, to the care owed to them, and to the Lord’s promise that “whoever receives one such child in my name receives me” (Mk 9:37).

Dear brothers and sisters, the path before us is clear, though it is not easy. We are called to allow our hearts to be renewed, so that we might seek peace and care for creation. Scripture tells us to guard our hearts, for everything we do flows from them (cf. Prov 4:23).
