A település a Miklós vize mentén, Korond központjától 7 km-re terül el. Nevét egy Pál nevű földesúrról kapta, aki a Leshegynek nevezett fennsíkot uralta, ennek szélén folyik el egy patak. A patakot Pál patakának nevezték. Innen kapta a település a Pálpataka nevet.
A faluban már Mária Terézia előtt voltak telepesek, akik Buccow generális elől menekültek a hegyekbe, mert nem akartak a székely határőrségbe beállni. 1948 és 1952 között mint önálló község működött, azóta közigazgatásilag Korondhoz tartozik. A plébánia 1948-ban alakult. Korábban Korondról látták el a hívek lelkigondozását. Első plébánosa Juhász Antal, aki plébánialakot építtetett. 1994-ben felépült a fatemplom Bordi János lelkész vezetésével.

Each year the World Day of Migrants and Refugees invites us to turn our attention to different aspects of the complex phenomenon of migration. For this 112th World Day, the theme, “Even just one of these children,” draws our attention to the minors directly involved in the experience of migration and flight, to the care owed to them, and to the Lord’s promise that “whoever receives one such child in my name receives me” (Mk 9:37).
