A szászok alapították 1206-ban. 1241-ben Bosa, oppidium Nosen néven szerepel. A szepesi szászok 1206-ban telepedtek le, s ettől kezdve biztosan volt templomuk. 1260-ból már ferences kolostorról van adat. Az 1375. évi oklevél szerint templomot szenteltek Szent Miklós tiszteletére. A tatárjárás előtti első templom román stílusú volt. A tatárjárással kapcsolatban 6014 halottról ír a krónika. A ma is álló templomot a 14. század elején kezdték el építeni. 1560–63-ban a régi falak megtartásával újjáépítették. Magas tornya 1470–1519 között épült. 1295-ben külön papja volt az ispotályosok templomának. 1303-ban a domonkosoknak rendházuk volt, templomuk Szent Kereszt tiszteletére volt szentelve. 1717-ben a piaristák ennek a kolostortemplomnak a romos maradványait megvásárolták. 1780-ban új templomot építettek, felhasználva a domonkos kolostortemplom köveit. Beépítették az ispotályosok leégett kolostorát is. Ők szervezték meg a plébániát és vezették 1879-ig. A piaristák előtt P. Stüch Nárcisz ferences atya kezdett téríteni. A piaristák középiskolát alapítottak. 1780-tól van elemi iskolájuk. A ferencesek kolostorát 1724-ben visszakapták a minoriták, de a 20. század elején eladták a görög katolikusoknak. Most ortodox kézen van. Az ispotályos szerzetesek is szerepelnek a pápai tizedjegyzékben. A 15. században domonkos és ferences apácák is működtek itt. A reformáció idején a szászok lutheránusok lettek, a magyarok továbbléptek és reformátusokká váltak. 1717-ig a katolikusnak nem volt templomuk. A plébániatemplom 1787-ben épült.

For World Mission Day 2026, which marks the centenary of a celebration established by Pius XI that is very dear to the Church, I have chosen the theme “One in Christ, united in mission.” Following the Jubilee Year, I wish to encourage the whole Church to continue its missionary journey with joy and zeal in the Holy Spirit.

Each year the World Day of Migrants and Refugees invites us to turn our attention to different aspects of the complex phenomenon of migration. For this 112th World Day, the theme, “Even just one of these children,” draws our attention to the minors directly involved in the experience of migration and flight, to the care owed to them, and to the Lord’s promise that “whoever receives one such child in my name receives me” (Mk 9:37).

Dear brothers and sisters, the path before us is clear, though it is not easy. We are called to allow our hearts to be renewed, so that we might seek peace and care for creation. Scripture tells us to guard our hearts, for everything we do flows from them (cf. Prov 4:23).
