The thoughts of Bishop Emeritus Tamás József
19 December, 4th Sunday of Advent
As we approach Christmas, we contact our loved ones, good friends and acquaintances, we send greetings cards or we visit them. We send them our festive wishes or gifts. It is love and appreciation for them that makes us do so. It is the example of the Blessed Virgin Mary that the Christians follow. Having undertaken a journey of several days, she visited her relative, Elizabeth, after learning from the angel Gabriel that God had been gracious to her and had given her a child. What a great experience this visit was for both of them. Such a great experience can be our Christmas visit to the church, in which we meet the Lord who has was born, descended to earth for us. Such a great experience can be in our celebrations, and in all the encounters with our fellow human beings through our love. Let us set out, then, with Our Lady, to share in the graces of these holy days, meeting the Lord and our fellow human beings.
